The Hand Of Moses Vrs The Ark Of Covenant = Christ (Part 1)
Did you know that God gave the Ten Commandments twice? Yes twice. Let me explain:
1. The first one was put in the hands of Moses.
2. The second one was put in the ark of covenant.
Now the first time the commandments were given, it was entrusted to Moses to keep and rehearse it in the ears of the children of Israel. Guess what happened? Moses came to meet Israel commuting idolatry (worshiping the golden calf as their god), and in anger, he broke them all into pieces. They were two tablets of stone, five written on one side of the stone and five on the other side of the stone.
The one to whom the law was committed was actually the one who broke them. That's interesting; the first person to be given the law was the first to break it. Moses destroyed the law the very first day it was given to Him.
God through the hand of angels redesigned the law. But this time around, it was not committed in the hands of Moses. God directed Moses to put them in the ark of covenant. And guess what? The commandments were kept and preserved for many generations till it was fulfilled. Follow me carefully:
The first time God gave the law, it was put in the hands of man, and what happened? It was broken.
The second time God gave the law, it was put in the ark of covenant, and what happened? It was kept, preserved and fulfilled.
Here's the message:
The hand of Moses represented man's works because the hand is used for working.
The ark of covenant represented Christ. How? The ark was made of two elements namely, Gold and Wood. Gold speaks of divine things. Gold cannot be reproduced by any man, it cannot be created, it can only be discovered my men. God is expensive and it's given to royals for the beauty. Gold always represents God because He's divine. Wood of speaks of humanity, it speaks of the human body and it speaks of the natural man. So the ark made of gold and wood represented Jesus as both God and Man. Jesus is both God and man.
The ark of covenant like a box which had a design that looks like a crown all around it. Crowns are for kings and this represented Jesus Christ as the King of kings. There were two main elements that was also put in the ark which are:
1. The pot of manna and
2. The rod of Aaron the blossomed and bore fruit.
Now, the ten commandments in the ark represented Jesus as the fulfilment of the law, the pot of manna in the ark represented Jesus as the bread of life and the rod of Aaron that bore fruit represented Jesus Christ as the resurrection and the life.
The ark had a seat like cover with a design of Cherubim facing each other and looking toward the top of the cover called the mercy seat. Read this: 1 John 2:2 And he is the PROPITIATION for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
That word, "Propitiation" in the Greek is the word Hilasterion, which means "mercy seat". This means Christ Himself is the mercy seat.
Amazing isn't it? How about the two angels facing each other on the top of the ark? Do you remember what Mary saw when she went to the tomb of Jesus on the day of resurrection? She saw two angels facing each other at the head and foot of Jesus tomb. This proves that Jesus Christ was the original ark of covenant. He is the fulfilment of all things.
Back to our subject.
The commandments in Moses hand was broken, but the commandments in the ark was preserved. What is this telling us? Simple
Man cannot keep the commandments, it is only in Christ that God's commandments can be kept, preserved and fulfilled.
The commands in man's hands was and is a failure but the commands in Christ's hands is a success. God's commandments can only be fulfilled in Christ and not by us.
On the cross, Jesus fulfilled the commandments. He took the commandments, 5 in his right and 5 in His left and it was nailed in His palms.
Colossians 2:13,14
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.....
It was only in Christ the law was fulfilled and completed. When Jesus declared, "Do not think that I have come to destroy the law but fulfill it", He was actually saying, I didn't come to destroy the law like Moses did in the wilderness, I have come to keep it fully and fulfill it as the ark of covenant". It's amazing.
That is why Paul could boldly declare : Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Today, God's righteous requirement is not fulfilled "BY" us, it fulfilled "IN" us (note the difference).
Romans 8:3,4
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled IN us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
We no longer stir up righteous passions, the life of Christ in us does.
Beloved, today, we are no longer led by any law or commandment except the commandment of LOVE, of which John says it's not a burdensome command. We are now led by the Spirit of God.
Romans 8:14-17
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Galatians 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
This is the new life you have been called to, the life of the Spirit. You have no obligation today to obey the law, and when there is no law, there is no sin, and where there is no sin, death remains dead. Why is it that important knowing you are no longer under the law? Because the law is the power of sin.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The STING of DEATH is SIN; and the STRENGTH of SIN is THE LAW. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the VICTORY THROUGH our Lord Jesus Christ.
Christ is now our life and understanding. It's Him God wants us to know, not the Law. God wants us to Live by Him.
If you want a revival of sin in your life or that of your members, then initiate more laws. The law is the power of sin and sin is the power of death. When you take the Law away, sin has no power and death does not reign.
Eg. It's like a gun, a bullet, a shooter and a gun shot. The gun is sin, the bullet is the law,the shooter is the devil and death is the gun shot. The gun remains powerless without a bullet and without a bullet, the gun in a shooter's hand is powerless. By living under the law or trying to keep the Law, you insert or activate bullets to make your life miserable and prone to death. By living by the dictates of the Holy Spirit in us, sins power loses grip in our lives.
No wonder when Jesus was crucified, the law was nailed and satan and his cohorts were disarmed.
Colossians 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
The cross was victory over the law, sin and death.
1 John 4:9
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, THAT WE MIGHT LIVE THROUGH HIM.
IN HIM WE LIVE, MOVE AND HAVE OUR BEING. You're loved. To be continued.....
