BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: THE NEW CREATURE
SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new".
Our Bible scripture for today is one of the most quoted bible verses in the Bible. But what does it really mean to be a new creature? A lot of people accept Christ into their lives but do they really understand the spiritual implications of their decision?
In John 3, Nicodemus came to Jesus secretly and when Jesus told him he has to be born again to enter into Heaven, he got confused. Why? Because he understood Jesus words literally. Being born again and becoming a new creature in Christ isn't a physical thing. In fact when you get born again, physically, nothing changes about you instantly. All the changes that takes place instantly are spiritual.
The new creature in Christ isn't an improved version of the old person. A new creature is a totally new person in Christ born by the Spirit of God. Without Christ, we are sinful beings destined for destruction in Hell fire. But when we accept Christ, all our sins are gone. Every requirements of the devil against us is taken away by Jesus. A new creature is no more under the influence of the devil nor sin. The old creature which was a descendant of Adam is now born again by the Spirit of God and has his inheritance in Christ.
When you accept Christ and become a new creation, all curses against you; be it generational curse or family curses are taken care of by the blood of Jesus. Your Spirit is reborn and sealed for Heaven.
However, being a new creature doesn't mean your old habits are automatically taken away. If you used to womanize or smoke, you will still feel the urge to do it. What the new creature has to do now is to use his new strength in Christ to fight those habits.
When you become a new creature, Christ gives you the power to overcome sin and the ability to exercise self control. So the fact that you still feel like fornicating doesn't mean you are not born again. You just have to overcome that urge.
A new creature isn't above temptation, a new creature has power over temptations. The fact that you are tempted doesn't mean you should give it to it. If you are in Christ, you are a new creature, the days of living in sin are gone, God has given you the power to live for Him. So live for Him. Stay Blessed!
Prayer line.
Father, thank you for saving me. Please help me to overcome temptations and live for you. Amen.
