Job - The Revelation Of Jesus Christ

The are two ways of seeing the story of Job.

A. The religious way which says "study Job, be like Job, suffer like Job, when you're sick, don't question God" etc. But this is just not true. Job wasn't the self-made hero religion makes him out to be and neither are you.

B. Or you can read with the lens of God's love and grace.

By turning Job's story into a fleshly, self glorifying talk, we have cut ourselves off from Christ and poisoned ourselves for failure. Job's suffering typified Christ suffering, not yours.

Job was holy, blameless and just, Christ was holy, blameless and just.

Job purified and protected His children through offerings and sacrifices, Jesus purified and preserved us by his once for all time sacrifice.

Job lost all He had, lost his property, children and servants, Christ lost us and His creation through the fall of Adam.

Job was not attacked by God, God permitted Satan to harm him with boils all over his body. GOD did not touch Job, likewise God did not punish His Son on the cross, God allowed the devil through the Jewish leaders and Romans to harm him. Just like Job had boils on his body, Jesus' whole body had stripes and marks.

Job's wife close to him told him to curse God and die, likewise the thief close to Jesus in His pain told him to save himself if he's the Messiah.

Job never said a word by His afliction, Jesus never said a word. He opened not his mouth.

Job was visited by his three friends to mourn with Him, on the cross there was John and the mother of Jesus and two other Marys to mourn with him.

Job prayed and interceded for His friends, Jesus said "Father forgive them for they know not what they do". Jesus also prayed for His friends and enemies.

Job was restored a double portion for all he lost, Christ was restored with double honor, for God was pleased to have all fullness dwell in Him and giving Him the name above all names that at His name, every knee must bow and every tongue must confess that He's Lord.

God gave Job ten children, 7 men and 3 girls, but the Bible only mentioned the names of the three girls (Job 42:13). This got me curious to study the names. This is what I got:

1. Jemimah - Warm affection, This name also comes from a root word called "yown" which means everlasting or perpetual. Another root word is "yayin" which means wine and intoxication. Therefore Jemimah speaks of the intoxicated warmth of God's Love.

2. Kezia - Comes from the word "Cassia" (which is the inner back of a certain tree) which means to peel. It comes from a root word "qatsa" which means to strip off, to scrape or to reveal.

3. Keren-Happuch - Means "Horn of cosmetics". It comes from two words which are "Keren" which means a horn or flask (used for pouring) and also means power. Second word is "Puwk" which means to paint or to dye (a natural synthetic substance used to color something), fair or glittering. The dye here represents the change in the course of humanity when Jesus resurrected from the dead.

When you put them together, this is what their names says:

THE EVERLASTING INTOXICATING WARMTH OF GOD'S LOVE WAS UNVEILED WHEN IT WAS POURED IN THE DEATH, BURIAL AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST WHO CHANGED, BEAUTIFIED AND BRIGHTENED THE NATURE OF HUMANITY.

Isn't this Amazing? Everything pointed to Jesus Christ. The book of Job is not about a good man going through bad times, but about a good God who went through bad times to have humanity restored. You're greatly loved.
