BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: IMITATING CHRIST Pt 1
SCRIPTURE: Philippians 2:8
"And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross".
As Christians, we are to live like Christ. Our lives are supposed to be modelled after the Life of Christ. In the book of Acts, the people of Antioch saw how the early disciples lived like Christ hence the name CHRISTIANS(Christ-like). There are lots of things we can learn from the life of Christ. Today, we start a mini series into some of the lessons we can learn from Christ.
One of the most important aspects of our Lord we can imitate is His humility. Jesus was humility personified. It was surprising to see the Son of God that humble. Jesus on earth had the fullness of God yet He didn't see it as a reason to be boastful.
In Philippians 2:5, Paul asked as to have the mindset of Christ. And what was that mindset? The mindset to be humble no matter our status or achievements in life. Jesus had every reason to be boastful, He had the very nature of God. Yet he humbled Himself to the extent that He allowed Himself to be killed by the people He created.
In the days of Jesus, dying on the Cross was considered the most humiliating of all deaths. It was a death reserved for criminals. Yet the King of Heaven lowered Himself to that extent. He was spat upon, insulted and beaten yet He condemned no one. Brethren, that is the definition of humility.
Let us learn from our Lord, let's deal with everyone in equal measure. Let's not discriminate, let's treat everyone with respect. Whatever you think you have achieved in this world, you got it only by God's Grace. It is not a reason to be boastful and arrogant. If we are Christians then we need to imitate the humble nature of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Stay blessed!
Prayer Line:
Lord, please help me to remain humble. May I accord equal respect and dignity to everyone I meet. Amen.
