TOPIC: THANKSGIVING
SCRIPTURE :1 Chronicles 16:34
"Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever".
In our human relationships, showing appreciation is very important. Imagine giving a nice gift to your friend and then he turns and walks away without even saying thank you. How will you feel? Bad, I guess. But there are lots of us who fail to show appreciation for all the good God has done for us. Most of us feel God simply hasn't done enough.
Most of us feel God hasn't met our expectations. Some of us too feel God hasn't been fair to us. So we simply don't see the need to offer God thanksgiving. But should this be the case?
In our scripture for today, the Bible is telling us to give thanks because God is good and His love endures forever. The first reason we need to give thanks to God is because He has been good to us.
Even if for nothing at all, the fact that you can read this message now is an evidence that God has been good to you. The greatest measure of God's goodness in our lives is the fact that He shows us mercy even though we don't deserve it all.
Another reason we are told to thank God is because His love endures forever. The love of God for us is immeasurable, it is simply incomprehensible. No man deserves God's love but He still loves anyway. Even when we disobey and sin, He still loves us. It is the love of God that has brought us this far.
Note that the Grace of God is a product of His love. God's love endures forever in our lives. So if you still think you have nothing to thank God for, just think about His love for you. Think about all the dangers He saved you from. Think about all the times you were sick but He saved you. Everyday, He provides you with your daily bread.
Today, let's make it a daily habit to be thankful to God for He is good and His love endures forever. God bless you!
