BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST
TOPIC: MULTIPLY
SCRIPTURE: GENESIS 1:28
"Then God blessed them and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply... ".
It is interesting to note that the first words God spoke to humanity were "Be fruitful and multiply". This was actually a command from God not an advice. Man's first impression about God after creation was that God is a God of multiplication. In this scripture, God was asking humanity to be fruitful and reproduce to fill the earth. Today, we will look at this scripture from another angle.
In Matthew 25, Jesus narrated a story of a man going on a journey, before the man left, he gave his servants some talents. Two of the servants multiplied their talents but one kept it same as he was given. When the master returned, he was pleased with the two servants but got angry with the servant who didn't multiply his talent. This was a parable of the kingdom of God with God being the Master.
Each one of us has been given a talent by God, the purpose of this talent is for it to be used not to keep it dormant. When God gives you a talent or a gift, He wants you to multiply it. The only way you can multiply it is by using the talent. The talent is meant to be used for the benefit of others. As God commanded man after creation, He wants us to be fruitful and multiply in every area of our lives not just in procreation.
What is your talent? How are you multiplying it? Or are you just keeping it to yourself? Your talent isn't meant for you alone, it is meant to be used for the benefit of humanity.
In John 15, Jesus told us that He is the true vine and every branch in Him that does not bear fruit will be cut off. Again, God is telling us that we need to be fruitful and multiply.
Today, I want to encourage you to use your talent for the purpose it was given. Your talent is God's gift to you, what you use it for is your gift back to God. God bless you.
Prayer line:
Lord, thank you for given me this wonderful talent. Please help me to use it for the benefit of others. Amen
