BREAKFAST WITH CHRIST

TOPIC: A LOVING GOD

SCRIPTURE: 1 John 4:8b

"...for God is love."

God has always been a loving God. God's relationship with man is based on love. In the Old Testament, God was seen as the God of justice. The God who punishes at the least mistake. These actions of God have always been misunderstood to mean He is a wicked God. Love is the nature of God, God cannot be wicked because it isn't part of His Holy nature. In the Old Testament, God was a law giver, those who lived according to His laws were blessed and those who practised sin were punished.

Some people also accused God of being wicked because he created Hell to punish human beings. The truth is that Hell was never created for human beings. Hell was created to punish Lucifer and his fallen angels. It is sin that sends man to Hell not God.

Another misconception is that if God were to be loving, He wouldn't have allowed sicknesses and suffering into this world. Again, the truth is that God did not allow sickness and suffering into this world. Sickness and suffering are by-products of sin. Sickness came as a result of the Adamic sin. Man disobeyed God and opened the door for suffering. When man was created, everything was perfect until man sinned. Even after Adam and Eve sinned, God still showed His love by making a clothe for them to wear when they realised they were naked. Our God is a loving God.

Today, we looked at some of the misconceptions about God's loving nature. In our next Breakfast with Christ, we will look at how God demonstrated His Amazing love towards us through His son Jesus Christ. God bless you!

Prayer Line.

My loving Father, thank you for loving me and taking care of me. Amen
